General Counselling in Shrewsbury
People come to counselling for many different reasons. You may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, grief, stress, unhappiness or difficulties in your personal life. Sometimes there is a particular problem you want help with; at other times, you may simply know that something isn't right and want to understand what is happening. My approach is practical, individual and focused on what is happening in your life now. Rather than beginning with a label, I work with you as an individual to understand what is troubling you, what may be keeping it going and what can help you begin to respond differently. With more than twenty-five years' counselling experience, my aim is not simply to provide somewhere for you to talk. We work together to understand what is happening and help you find a way forward.
General Counselling is £75 for a full 60-minute individual session. There is no package to buy or commitment to a predetermined number of sessions. How long we work together depends on what has brought you to counselling and what you want to achieve. Online sessions are also available if preferred.
Face-to-Face Specialist Anger Management in Shrewsbury
My Anger Management Programme consists of six one-hour sessions and is individual to you. Your anger has its own history, triggers and circumstances, so although the programme provides a structure for our work, I don't believe in putting everyone through the same rigid curriculum. Our work begins in the first session. Rather than concentrating primarily on controlling anger once it has arisen, we'll begin looking at the emotional process behind your anger — what triggers it, what happens inside you and why the same response may continue despite your best intentions. The programme gives us time to understand your individual anger, identify what triggers your reactions, recognise what happens between the trigger and your response and work towards changing patterns that may have become automatic. The aim is not simply to teach you techniques for controlling your anger, but to help you understand your own pattern well enough to recognise and interrupt it for yourself.
The Anger Management Programme consists of six full 60-minute sessions at a total cost of £600. Sessions are face-to-face at my private practice in Shrewsbury. Online sessions are also available if preferred.
Relationship & Couples Counselling in Shrewsbury
Relationship difficulties rarely exist in isolation. Repeated arguments, anger, resentment, withdrawal, loss of trust, poor communication and recurring conflict can gradually change the way two people feel about each other.
I work face-to-face with individuals and couples in Shrewsbury to help you understand the patterns operating within your relationship, what happens when conflict begins and why the same difficulties can keep repeating despite your best intentions.
The focus is not simply on deciding who is right or wrong. We look at what is actually happening between you and what each of you may be reacting to, so that difficulties can be approached from a more constructive and resourceful place.
There is no requirement for both partners to attend. Sometimes working individually with one person can significantly change the dynamics within a relationship.
Relationship & Couples Counselling is £100 for a full 60-minute session, whether you attend together or individually. There is no predetermined number of sessions — we work with what is happening in your relationship and review progress as we go. Online sessions are also available if preferred.
